Hello/Pialli!
My name is Mateo Huezo (they/he). I’m a Latin/Patlacheh person living and working across treaty lands in what is now called Alberta. I’m an activist, writer, researcher, traditional healer, teacher and trainer, and therapist. I am a Registered Psychologist serving clients in Alberta. My therapy approach includes using talk, play, and arts toward therapeutic healing. I am trained primarily in play therapy, Indigenous Focusing Techniques, postmodern and feminist therapy approaches, and cognitive-behavioural methods. I am a WPATH-trained therapist for Transition Readiness Planning in gender health for gender diverse youth and adults. My work focuses on intersectional and neuro-affirming approaches for working through chronic stress, oppression, trauma, and grief. I also provide mental health assessments and referrals, including to facilitate access to transgender healthcare. When I’m not at work, I love hiking, kayaking, family time, and playing with my little bitty kitty cat.
If you think we are a fit, I look forward to hearing from you!
