In order to better improve the health and wellness of Alberta’s trans and gender-diverse community, CBRC has launched the Trans Wellness Initiative (TWI). Uniting community members, community-based organizations, and healthcare providers, the TWI will work to increase access to healthcare services, build connections within the community, and foster capacity for self-advocacy.
Taking the form of a website, the TWI provides trans and gender-diverse people with information and resources about important topics—such as sexual and mental health, navigating pathways to surgery, and social and legal transition. It is also a place where healthcare providers can learn more about providing competent and affirming care for trans and gender-diverse communities.
As an extension of the TWI, the Introduction to Affirming Spaces Training has also been created. It is a series of three course modules for healthcare providers that offer insight into fostering affirming healthcare practices that better serve trans and gender-diverse patients in Alberta.
We have created a number of promotional materials about the Trans Wellness Initiative and the Introduction to Affirming Spaces Training. We would appreciate your help in sharing these messages and materials through your social media channels, websites, or newsletters.
